    POTENTIAL SECURITY IMPACT:
Java Runtime Environment (JRE) may allow untrusted applet to
    elevate privileges.

    SOURCE:
    Hewlett-Packard Company
    HP Software Security Response Team

    VULNERABILITY SUMMARY:
A potential security vulnerability in Java(TM) Runtime Environment
(JRE) on HP-UX may allow elevated privileges.

    REFERENCES:
    SunAlert #101749, CAN-2005-1974

SUPPORTED SOFTWARE VERSIONS*: ONLY impacted versions are listed.
Java 5.0.0 release (aka 1.5.0.0) as well as Java 1.4.2.08 release
    and earlier.

    BACKGROUND:

A potential vulnerability in Java(TM) Runtime Environment (JRE)
may allow an untrusted applet to elevate its privileges. For
example, an applet may grant itself permissions to read and write
local files or execute local applications that are accessible to
the user running the untrusted applet.

There are no reported attacks based on this vulnerability.

    AFFECTED VERSIONS

NOTE: To determine if a system has an affected version,
search the output of "swlist -a revision -l fileset"
for an affected fileset. Then determine if a fixed
revision or applicable patch is installed.
